Tamarae & Ryan Engaged!

Ryan and I first met in Las Vegas in 2009. We were both there for the WCC basketball tournament to cheer on the Zags and met through my brother Jimmy. At the time, we didn’t pay much attention to each other as Ryan had a girlfriend back home and I was there to have fun with my girlfriends as part of my senior year spring break!

A year and a half later, right as I was about to begin lawschool here in Spokane, and while Ryan was living in San Francisco, we reconnected through mutual friends at a Kings of Leon concert at the Gorge. That’s where our story really begins. We hit it off at the concert and began dating shortly after. Our first year of dating was long distance, but Ryan then moved back to Spokane after finishing his M.B.A. at Berkeley-Haas.

Fast forward to 2013 and it was a big year for us! I graduated from law school in may and took the BAR exam at the end of July ( I passed 🙂 Ryan then completed his first Ironman in Tempe, AZ in November and we headed to Maui with friends and my family to celebrate thanksgiving and cheer on the zags at the Maui Invitational. On the way back home, we stopped on Oahu to see more family (Ryan’s and mine). Ryan proposed on December 1, 2013 under the cover of an umbrella as we stood on his family’s pier overlooking the ocean. We then got to celebrate with family over brunch!
