Ryan and I became friends very easily. It helped that he was a very good friend to my sister, Alex, and that we served together at church in children’s ministry and in the youth ministry. I’ve always had so mucg fun with Ryan, and no matter where we went or what we did I felt safe with him.
During the summer of 2013 we realized we had feelings for each other, but Ryan was leaving for college (all the way to Arkansas!) in the fall, so we thought it best not to date. Well luckily it didn’t last long! By November, he was asking my dad to be in a relationship, and of course my dad said yes! Ryan was my first boyfriend, and it was amazing to be led by him from start as he taught me more about Christ and pushef me to be a stronger woman of God, as I pushed him in his faith too.
August 3, 2014 he proposed! I wasn’t expecting it at all! It was perfect in a sunflower field with my sister secretly taking pictures of the proposal! Soon, Ryan had to go back to college and man was that semester rough. I was planning a wedding in five months and he was studying biology and theology, taking a full class load. But we made it!
January 3, 2015: we’re married! My dad performed an amazing ceremony that was so intimate and special. And my handsome husband and I had a wonderful and beautiful night! We continue to make Christ the priority in our lives, I couldn’t imagine doing it any other way!
12.14.13 Josh took me to our friend’s amazing Christmas light display. It is something that we had done each year over the past couple years and I excited to go again. We were standing under the big tree, getting our picture taken when Josh got down on one knee to ask me to marry him. At the time we were also expecting a little boy in March of 2014 so wedding plans weren’t at the front of our minds.
The beginning of November 2014 came and we still hadn’t found a wedding date that worked for us, and our families. It was around this time that Josh sent me a calendar invite to our wedding. I laughed as I read it, and I had to call him to make sure he was serious! Within 2-3 hours after that confirmation phone call we had our wedding planned!
Everything came together in 5 weeks. We had so much help from our amazing friends and family. It was meant to be, we were able to find a venue, caterer, florist, and photographer (the best one) in such a short amount of time. I found my wedding dress, off the rack, and, from the same location my sister got her dress, 3 days after we decided to get married!
12.13.14 Our wedding day! It was the day of our dreams. All our favorite people in the same room celebrating with us. We could not have asked for a better day, it was truly awesome to be surrounded by, and share so much joy with everyone. We also timed it just right so we were pronounced married at 3:16pm (15:16 military time!) 🙂
