Caitlin and Kyle met in 1999 during their 6th grade year– when the three elementary schools in Pullman merged together for middle school. On Valentine’s Day of their 8th grade year, Kyle asked Caitlin to be his girlfriend with a bouquet of Dissmores roses and a white teddy bear. And the rest, they say, is history.
In February 2016, Kyle planned a weekend at her parent’s cabin on Coeur D’Alene lake, skiing with their friends from the Tri-Cities. On Friday evening as they were in route to the cabin, Caitlin received a message from their friends saying that they were not going to be able to make it to the cabin as a work obligation arose unexpectedly. Caitlin and Kyle decided to continue on to the cabin and make the best of the weekend. Kyle surprised Caitlin by proposing to her on their dock after a waffle breakfast and a walk in the rain with their dogs. Their friends who were supposed to be skiing with with them and helped plan the surprise arrived early afternoon to celebrate.

So after Zach’s amazingly romantic proposal! It was down to business to plan our dream wedding! We started with setting a time and location. Since we were both teachers we felt that a winter (December) wedding would be ideal since we would always have that time of year off to go on a mini-honeymoon. Since most of Zach’s family would have to travel for the wedding, we chose a location (Spokane, WA) with a larger airport than Pullman or Lewiston. When thinking about a venue for the wedding reception, the first place that came to mind was the Historic Davenport Hotel. We had stayed there the previous December after Zach returned from celebrating Christmas with his family in Wisconsin. Seeing how breathtaking the Davenport Hotel was when it was decorated for the Christmas season, simplified our decision. We chose the Marie Antoinette Ballroom, since it had a special place in our hearts. We had shared a dance there when we were exploring the hotel one evening. We were so happy to find out that the room and the date that we wanted were available! We were able to have the ceremony at the beautiful St. Matthew Lutheran Church, which is about five miles north of the Historic Davenport Hotel.
After arranging the location of the ceremony and reception, was the whirlwind of finding the perfect dress, the best photographer, the tastiest wedding cake, the sexiest tuxes, the funnest DJ, the most beautiful flowers, and finishing up all the other details. Although it seemed that every weekend was consumed in preparing for the wedding, preparations went by fast, where everything seemed to fall into place.
After 8 long months of planning, our BIG DAY finally arrived! December 19th, 2015 was a day that we will remember for the rest of our lives. Not only because it was a day that we married our best friend, it was a beautiful day, filled with joy, friends, family, love, God, and even a few snowflakes. We couldn’t have imagined anything more wonderful!

Andy and Tansy first met as children in Southern California. They grew up next door to one another until a tragedy brought them together. They started their young family right away and moved to Spokane in 1990. One year later they were baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses. This is what they attribute their success and happy family life to. They’ve stuck together through hard times but in their own words it’s because “not being married isn’t an option”. This year has not only brought a milestone anniversary but also an addition to their family. In just a few months they will welcome their first grandchild and they couldn’t be more excited. Thank you Ifong for capturing all of our major milestones in our growing family. 2 weddings, 1 milestone anniversary, and many more to come!
